Sorry, couldn’t concentrate on making a title for this blog because “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey is playing on Pandora, perhaps in some underhanded attempt to prevent me from writing this at all by attacking my subconscious and… You know what, I don’t know where I’m going with that.
So, above you see the dirtiest word in webcomics. I prefer the words “The End” to hiatus, any day. This could very well be the end of the illustrious careers of our squirrel friends, but since I have not yet drawn a fitting end to them, those words shall not grace the page.
I have had a lot of fun over the years with this little webcomic that is known to few and loved by fewer. Few in the internet scheme of things, that is. I don’t think we’ve done too badly in terms of traffic considering our terrible update schedules and erratic storylines. Almost half a million page views just since I started tracking us in 2010 isn’t all that bad, it just isn’t amazing. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate every single person that has taken the time to visit, read a comic, leave a comment, or give us a thumbs up on Facebook. Those of you who repeatedly show up back here expecting a comic on the days the I ruthlessly leave posted as update days and leave inevitably disappointed, I apologize profusely.
So let’s take a quick look back at some Fuzznuts highlights. Last year we actually signed some autographs at Free Comic Book Day, which was epic, and made me feel like I was fairly important for a day or so (we made some kickass flyers). We actually compiled a book (overpriced as hell too), which was something I’d been dying to do for ages, just so I could have something tangible to hold onto. The fellows over at Oxicomics made us a sweetass Iphone app, which I could not be more impressed with. And last but not least we got a full page spread in the Kentucky New Era newspaper, which in a roundabout sort of way fulfilled a childhood dream of getting a cartoon published in a newspaper. It’s just too bad I couldn’t pull it off in the funnies section.
So after four oddball years of randomly updating and zany storylines, I bid adieu to the squirrels, at least until I have time to give them the attention they deserve. I also tip my hat to the tons of people who slave everyday drawing and writing webcomics, hoping to earn an audience and some maybe eventually some cash. It is definitely harder than anyone thinks to get just a few hundred people to visit your site, much less the thousands it takes to get anywhere on the old internet.
If anyone wishes to keep up with me, my email is still cwall81@gmail.com. The only thing I’ll still be doing on the internet for a while is updating my fantasy story (of the swords and sorcery variety, no vampires). Anyone who wants to read through that train wreck and leave some constructive criticism is most welcome.
I will be attempting to round up the wonderful things people have drawn for me and place them on the Fuzz Extras page. I should have done it a long time ago, but I’m a terrible person. Apologies.
They should probably fix this. The “L” is fairly important.

I couldn’t help it. We were out Christmas shopping, saw this, and had to take a picture. Do you think they don’t know, or just don’t care? It is Kentucky, after all.
As you have probably noticed already, I have only been updating about once a week. Pretty terrible, I know. That is all thanks to me pursuing my college education. I don’t exactly know what I’m going to use it for, but I’ll get back to you on that. Anyway, since College Algebra is eating up all of my free computer time, I figured I’d better let all of you know that I will be planning to knock out at least ONE comic a week, and anything else is a bonus. At least until I get some non-math classes next semester.
Oh, I could post my sweet ass art projects I’ve been doing in art 101. Anyone interested in seeing my 3rd grade level painting skills?
However, it was a lot of fun. We had half a table, which was more than enough for us since we only brought my laptop, flyers, cards and some minis. I made some quick sharpie sketches once we ran out of minis (which was super quick). I met some cool people like David Branstetter, who churns out the witty and well-done Straw Man Comics, and Joshua Hicks of Palms Productions. I didn’t get to talk to everyone, which was a shame. I really should have taken more pictures too, but I didn’t want to get up and miss out on hooking any potential readers. So here are a few pics I took, and if you saw us on FCBD, post a comment below and say hi!
I’m super excited about this. It is only available on-demand from Lulu as of right now, but it still counts. I got two copies in the mail today to show off to family and friends. They looked really good, although I could see a few slight imperfections I didn’t notice on my pc. It was awesome finally seeing something I’ve worked so hard on in print.
This is my oldest son Ian holding the finished product! You can get it here at Lulu’s website for now, until I can get a personal stock to sell. There are a few pages of bonus material, adding up to around 44 pages including all the Fuzznuts! There is also a download available for like 3 bucks.
